Treated as a structural condition for clear thinking and sound decisions. When people are regulated, the system they work inside becomes easier to read and improve.
Resource · The House Method®, a circular leadership system
What is circular leadership?
A way of organising authority, care and decision-making so that a company can grow without its values being flattened by hierarchy.
Definition
Circular leadership is a structural model.
It describes how a company organises authority so that every layer of the business can stay responsive to what is actually happening. The goal is to stop hierarchy from becoming the loudest voice in the room.
At its centre sits the founding intention: the reason the company exists and the values it is trying to protect. Around that centre move three domains of work: Stewardship (the discipline of self), Anchor (the discipline of relationship), and Architecture (the discipline of design). Each one is essential, and each one feeds the others.
The pyramid keeps power at the top. The circle keeps the centre connected to the edge.
Ease at the centre. Steward, Anchor and Architect as three equal domains.
Pyramid vs circle
What a circular model does differently.
The pyramid
- Power flows upward. Information is filtered on the way.
- Culture is managed through policy and performance reviews.
- Decisions are made far from the people they affect.
- Wellbeing is treated as a separate function from strategy.
- Burnout is read as a personal limit, so the best people leave and the cost repeats.
The circle
- Authority is distributed by domain and maturity.
- Culture is read as feedback about the system.
- Decisions sit as close as possible to the signal.
- Wellbeing is a structural condition for clear thinking.
- Strain shows early, as feedback, while it is still cheap to fix.
Three pillars
What holds the circle together.
Designed so signal travels cleanly through the company, with less distortion and less noise. Clean communication makes misalignment visible before it becomes conflict.
Brings relational intelligence, discernment and collaboration into how authority is held, alongside the more familiar directive modes. It draws on what has been missing from most leadership models.
Circular feminine leadership is leadership for a new age. It moves away from the patriarchal pyramid of command and control towards care, collaboration and shared authority, with ease as the organising principle.
After certification
B Corp certified. Now what?
B Corp certification sets the standard. It verifies what your company has committed to, and it holds you to account against it. What it does not give you is a manual for daily operations: how decisions get made on a difficult Tuesday, how authority is shared as the team grows, how you keep the commitments alive once the assessment is filed.
That gap is where most certified companies strain. The values are documented, the structure underneath them is still the pyramid, and the two pull against each other. Circular leadership is the operational answer: the working method that makes the certification true in practice.
Recertification then stops being a scramble. The evidence is already in how the company runs.
Who it is for
Values-led businesses turning over £1M to £10M.
Circular leadership is especially useful when the structure that got you to £1M is now the thing slowing you down. The team is bigger, the decisions are more complex, and the original way of working is starting to strain.
It is for B Corp certified companies and others who have built their brand on purpose, but now need the operating system to match. It is for businesses that are tired of managing people into alignment and want to design a system where alignment becomes more natural.
How to begin
Start by seeing where the pyramid is holding you back.
The Coherent Leadership System is installed in three movements: Diagnostic and Signal Mapping, Structural Integration, and Measurement and Calibration. The first movement is designed to make the invisible visible, mapping where authority, communication and culture are getting stuck.
